What is the procedure?
A small camera and instruments are introduced through a narrow working channel to reach and remove disc material compressing a nerve. Transforaminal or interlaminar access may be used according to the disc level and anatomy.
Who may be a candidate?
It may be appropriate for patients with persistent radicular symptoms and matching MRI findings, or for certain neurological indications. The choice between endoscopic surgery, microdiscectomy and other approaches is individualized.
Limitations and risks
Possible risks include dural tear, infection, nerve injury, recurrent herniation, incomplete decompression and further surgery. Progressive weakness or bladder/bowel dysfunction requires urgent medical assessment.
Clinical assessment
Appropriate treatment depends on your symptoms, neurological examination, MRI findings and personal medical history. A consultation is needed before making a treatment decision.
